Jackson graduated from West Coast College of Massage Therapy on Vancouver Island in 2019, and is new to the Kootenays. He approaches massage and manual therapy through the lens of the nervous system. From his personal and professional experiences, he has seen how massage therapy can be used to help change your awareness and perception to areas in the body that have become sensitive, irritable, and stuck in a holding pattern. He uses a slow, intentional approach to connect with your body and nervous system.

Sessions are interactive and person-centered with a goal to facilitate ease and comfort in your body. Each session he gathers information and gets context to help direct the assessment and course of treatment, taking time to check in throughout. Jackson might ask for some participation from you during each session, which can involve gentle movement while he engages that area of your body. Most of the session is done on the treatment table, but sometimes treatment can be done sitting or upright, assessing how the body moves in space. With that said, he asks that you wear comfortable loose-fitted gym wear (shorts, tank top/sports bra) and he will ensure that you are comfortable.

Jackson has professional interests in psychology, body language, expressive movement, and the importance of breath awareness to help self regulate the nervous system. Outside of the clinic, he spends a lot of time playing music and exploring the outdoors.

After graduating high school in 1994 from Grande Cache, AB, and an 8-year span of being a post-secondary ‘Professional Student’, immersed in the studies of Fine Arts and Business Management, Jolene graduated from the Massage Therapy Diploma program at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton, AB, in June of 2002. She held a continuous RMT contract position with Beaumont Chiropractic Center from 2002-2012. During this time, she continued her ‘Professional Student’ dream through taking continuing education courses, including CranioSacral Therapy I and II, SomatoEmotional Release I, Manual Lymphatic Drainage I and Visceral Manipulation I and II. She has also taken numerous other courses considered less academic, but are no less significant in enhancing her practice of Massage Therapy: Usui Reiki Degree 1 and 2, Doula Certification Training, and two seperate Healing From The Core programs, that have proven to be immeasurably valuable! Jolene is already registered in Visceral Manipulation Level III this August in Albuquerque, NM. She is grateful to be able to continue her pursuit of a Visceral Manipulation Certification in the next several years.

Due to a job opportunity in the West Kootenays for her handsome hubby, Dean, they moved here from Alberta in the fall of 2012. Exactly one year later, they welcomed their first of two sons! This put Jolene’s RMT career plans in BC on hold for about a decade, so that she could focus on Mom-ming. She was however, able to procure a position with Back In Balance Wellness Center in Castlegar for 5 years, during which time she became successful in obtaining her RMT status in BC. She has maintained a Full-time RMT contract position with Back In Balance since January, 2023, until her decision to move her practice to Trail, in order to be a ‘Working Mom’ closer to her boys.

Since her very first winter of 2012/13, Jolene has maintained seasonal employment within the Lift Operations Dept. at Red Mountain Resort. Most people recognize her friendly face every winter as the ‘Lifty Mom’ of Red Mountain! With the advent of her youngest son, Malcolm, joining Trail Minor Hockey, Jolene can now add ‘Hockey Mom’ to the list! Once the seasons change, she can be found with her boys hiking or mountain biking the trails in the area, kayaking and paddle boarding at Champion Lakes, and camping (wherever they can actually find a spot!) Jolene’s passion for the performing arts has never diminished, and over the years has become involved with the Trail Harmony Choir, the Kootenay Women’s Ensemble, the SwingSations Jazz Band as Female soloist, and most recently, successfully auditioned for Rossland Light Opera Players along with her oldest son, Markus.

Jolene looks forward to meeting and working with new clients in the Trail area and welcoming past clients to her new location at Kootenay Columbia Therapeutics.
